Who is Kathryn Barr and
Abounding Health?
I have been working in the alternative health field for
almost 20 years. I began studying herbs and homeopathy when
my children were small and I wanted an alternative to drugs
and OTC medicines. Studies included numerous classes and
seminars, independent learning, and working with other
practitioners in an apprenticeship type learning
environment.
Training as a birth professional included numerous classes
and seminars with other doulas and childbirth educators,
along with years of independent study and five years of
midwifery training with the Association of Texas Midwives
midwifery training program.
The Titus 2 Birthing material and certification programs
came about because there I had a desire and numerous
requests from other birth professionals for a faith-based
program for labor support and childbirth education that
included option-based materials, homebirth materials and
vaccine safety information. Titus 2 materials have been
presented and used for more than 10 years. Workshops have
been presented from coast to coast.
Training as a Breastfeeding educator was received from the
Texas DSHS Brestfeeding Training program offered through
the Texas Breastfeeding Initiative. As a former
brestfeeding mom and a birth professional, I believe that
breastfeeding is a valuable gift for both mom and baby.
Many of the modalities I currently use as a traditional
naturopath were part of the training I received as a birth
professional. Others modalities were things I became
interested and pursued independent of that focus.
Abounding
Health is
the vehicle I use to practice what I know to assist others
to reach new levels of good health and wellness. It covers
a variety of activities and educational offerings.
In addition to my alternative health work, I am an ordained
minister through Servant House Ministries. I currently
serve as a chaplain and chaplain coordinator at Unity
Church of Dallas.
