Abounding Health:
Your
Right to Choose
Abounding
Health
is all about knowing your options!
If
you don't know your options, you don't have any!

Diane Korte
It
is my absolute full and complete belief that you have the
right to know, explore and choose the options that serve
you best!
No
one else can determine what is most important to you, what
benefits appeal to you, what risks are too great for your
comfort level, and what choice ultimately fits you best.
That includes your partner/spouse. your family, your best
friend, or your health care provider.
Each of us is an individual with unique like and dislikes,
preferences, goals, and understanding of what is important.
Therefore, no one-size-fits-all plan will work. No two
people have exactly the same circumstances either, so what
may work for one may not work for the other.
Individualized care is exactly what it says - a care plan
customized for the individual. It takes into consideration
who you are, what you believe, what your goals and
aspirations are, how you plan to reach those goals, and
what kind of options you will follow through on, as opposed
to what someone else believes is best for you.
My preference as a health care professional is to empower
you through education and support to choose the kind of
care you want and deserve. I cannot force you to make
lifestyle changes or choices based on my experience,
education, or bias. You must choose whether you want to see
transformative change or not, and to put that choice into
action. Therefore, my job is to support your choices
through education, encouragement, on-going support and
follow-through, and assisting you to assess progress and
make changes based on the best evidenced-based research
available.
I began my entry into alternative health care as a
researcher. I wanted answers that often were not being
provided by conventional medicine and conventional
providers. I did, however, have the support of some of
those providers to explore alternatives and to make
decisions that best suited me. They believed that an
educated client/patient was the best option for both of us!
Additionally, I had the support and encouragement of a very
wise and loving doctor who encouraged me to know and
believe that I was the best self-defense tool I had in
determining what was safe and effective for me and my
unique health challenges. He encouraged me to ask
questions, to do my own research, and to speak up when I
didn't understand or agree with the options I was presented
with. More than once, that empowerment has saved my life
and health when the option provided overlooked an important
factor in my care.
It is this kind of support and encouragement I seek to
provide to my own clients. I know that you know more about
your history and experiences than I do and that I can make
mistakes or oversights. I will listen to you and discover
what has and has not worked in the past, what concerns are
most important to you, and what questions you need answers
to. I also know and admit that I don't have all the answers
and that I never will, so I will be honest when I don't
have the answers, while affirming that I will assist you in
gaining the answers you need and want.
Ultimately the choice of goals and plans is yours. It is
based on what you feel will benefit you the most, what
risks you feel are managable, and what current knowledge is
available to assist you to reach your goals. You are the
one affected most by the choice, so the choice belongs to
you and you alone!
Feel free to ask questions. Feel free to do your own
research. In fact, I encourage and support your efforts to
do exactly that! Feel free to challenge my research and
check my resources and references for any information I
provide. Feel free to be honest and open about what is
important to you and how I can best support you. And, feel
free to make choices based on what you feel will work most
effectively for you.
You
have the power! Take control of your health
today!!
