What methods does Abounding Health use to promote health and wellness?

Education and Empowerment - You can't use what you don't know. Abounding Health seeks to empower you to be the primary partner in your health. You are encouraged to prioritize your health goals and choose which options will help you meet those goals. No one will make your decisions for you. A key factor in your empowerment is education.
Education includes what is normal and healthy and how that relates to what you are experiencing. It also includes exploring options that can take you from where you are to where you want to be. Option education explores benefits and risks of all of the options presented.
You are encouraged to ask questions, explore options, verify research data, and to make choices about how you will achieve your ideal health.
Abounding Health also provides classes on a variety of health topics. For more than 15 years, Kathy has taught classes on relationship skills, childbirth and parenting education, vaccine safety, women's health issues, and health and wellness.

Traditional Naturopathy - Naturopathy uses natural methods to affect health. Centuries of wisdom and research exist on almost every health issues you could imagine. Naturopathy looks at the available natural options and seeks to find complementary methods to correct health imbalances and dis-ease. Naturopaths do not diagnose or prescribe.

Nutrition - You are what you eat. Food can help or hinder your health goals. Many health concerns are caused by nutritional deficiencies and food sensitivities. Your assessment will explore what you eat and how that affects your current health and how you can change that by changing what you eat. Some foods are known to cause health problems and other foods are known to improve health. You will be encouraged to make healthy food choices and select items that help you reach your health goals.

Herbs - Herbs have been used to treat health challenges for thousands of years. In fact, these natural substance not only pre-date pharmaceuticals, but are generally safer and have few side effects. This does not mean that all herbs are safe or that herbs cannot be used in an unsafe manner. Education is necessary to know what herbs interact, what form and amounts are effective for use, what contraindication may exist and what combinations are known to be effective treatment options.

Homeopathy - The basis of homeopathy is that like cures like. A minute quantity of a substance that causes a symptom may effectively relieve the problem by encouraging the body to heal itself. By dilution and secussing the substance, a homepathic remedy increases in strength or potentizes.
Homeopathy looks at the whole person, not just the symptoms, and takes into consideration the physical, emotional and environmental state of the person. Therefore, part of a homeopathic assessment includes discovering what conditions and activities make the situation better and worse. Once a comprehensive picture can be drawn, a specific homeopathic remedy may be chosen that works at the root cause of the condition.

Acupressure - Acupressure uses the same meridian information to encourage healing without the use of acupuncture needles. Pressure is applied to the pressure point to balance and correct energy flow.

Energy Work - Everything is energy. Our bodies use energy to function. When energy is blocked, doesn't flow well, or flows in an uncoordinated fashion, the body does not function at optimal levels. Energy work seeks to assist the body's energy levels to flow in a manner that is healthy and productive.

Crystals - Crystals vibrate at frequencies that can be used assist the body, mind and spirit to heal or to maintain healthy conditions. Crystal elixirs, crystal waters, therapeutic crystal jewelry, and employing crystals in direct body contact are just a few ways that crystals can be incorporated to assist an individual to address health concerns.

Massage
- A variety of massage techniques and forms may be used to effect stress relief and support good health.

Detoxification - All of us come into contact with and accummulate a variety of toxic substances in the normal course of life. These may enter through the air we breath, food and water we consume, environmental challenges we are exposed to, chemicals and toxins we absorb through the skin, and toxins we produce in our bodies. Detoxification helps remove these toxic wastes from the body so that we feel and function better.

Environmental Cleansing - Where and how we live affects how we sleep, eat and process food and liquids, the quality of the air we breathe, what energy sources may interfere with our bodies, and how we respond to assaults on our health. Cleansing our environment of negative factors can help us function more efficiently and with greater energy.

Aromatherapy (Essential Oils) - Essential oils have documented health benefits. Aromatherapy is particularly effective for stress and anxiety relief, insomnia, depression, muscular and rheumatic pains, digestive disorders and women's problems ( PMS, pregnancy and birth, menopausal complaints and postnatal depression), and male impotence.

Relaxation and Meditation - Stress is a major health concern, causing immune suppression, depression, and a host of physical ailments. Learning to relax and meditate can enable you to lower stress levels and heal, help you find the wisdom you seek to move forward in other areas of life, and find peace.

Women's Health - From puberty to beyond menopause, women's hormones influence how women think, function and see themselves. Menstrual issues, overall breast health, contraception and fertility, pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, postpartum, menopause, and life after menopause can all benefit from knowledge and a variety of techniques to improve function and health.

Men's Health - Male health concerns include impotence, prostate health, stress and heart issues, and hair and skin condition. All of these areas can benefit from a variety of natural health techniques and options.

Vitamins and Supplements - Good nutrition should be enough, but in a world of depleted soil conditions, pesticides and herbicides, bio-engineered seeds and plants, and processed foods, we just don't get everything we need in the food we eat. Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can lead to a variety of health challenges that can be overcome with the right balance of vitamins and minerals.

Applied Kinesiology - Your body knows what it needs to improve health and it knows that things can damage your health. Applied Kinesiology allows your body to "speak" and share it's knowledge with you so that you know what will help and what will not.

Therapeutic Touch - As human beings, we require touch. In fact, we can literally die from lack of touch. Research proves that women need from 7 - 10 significant touches per day to maintain physical, mental and emotional health; men slightly fewer. Therapeutic touch uses the power of touch to enhance the life on the physical, mental and emotional levels.

Mind/Body Work - Your heart and mind affect every aspect of your life. What you believe, how you see life and how you respond to life challenges affect your health in so many ways. Change your mind; change your life.

Exercise - From simple stretches to more challenging workouts, our bodies require movement that strenthens mucle and bone health. As we age, and as our lives become more sedentary, health can decline simply because we don't move enough and don't move in the right ways. Just a few simple exercises can make the difference in how we feel, how we move, and in how our body supports us.

Individualized Programs - You aren't like any one else! You have likes, dislikes, challenges, life circumstances and needs that are unique to you. You deserve a program that focuses on the health goals that are important to you and that include options that you will realistically incorportate into your lifestyle.
