Abounding Health:
Modalities
Used to Serve Clients
What methods does
Abounding Health
use to promote health and wellness?
Education and Empowerment -
You can't use what you don't know.
Abounding Health seeks
to empower you to be the primary partner in your health.
You are encouraged to prioritize your health goals and
choose which options will help you meet those goals. No one
will make your decisions for you. A key factor in your
empowerment is education.
Education includes what is normal and healthy and how that
relates to what you are experiencing. It also includes
exploring options that can take you from where you are to
where you want to be. Option education explores benefits
and risks of all of the options presented.
You are encouraged to ask questions, explore options,
verify research data, and to make choices about how you
will achieve your ideal health.
Abounding
Health also
provides classes on a variety of health topics. For more
than 15 years, Kathy has taught classes on relationship
skills, childbirth and parenting education, vaccine safety,
women's health issues, and health and wellness.
Traditional
Naturopathy -
Naturopathy uses natural methods to affect health.
Centuries of wisdom and research exist on almost every
health issues you could imagine. Naturopathy looks at the
available natural options and seeks to find complementary
methods to correct health imbalances and dis-ease.
Naturopaths do not diagnose or prescribe.
Nutrition
-
You are what you eat. Food can help or hinder your health
goals. Many health concerns are caused by nutritional
deficiencies and food sensitivities. Your assessment will
explore what you eat and how that affects your current
health and how you can change that by changing what you
eat. Some foods are known to cause health problems and
other foods are known to improve health. You will be
encouraged to make healthy food choices and select items
that help you reach your health goals.
Herbs
-
Herbs have been used to treat health challenges for
thousands of years. In fact, these natural substance not
only pre-date pharmaceuticals, but are generally safer and
have few side effects. This does not mean that all herbs
are safe or that herbs cannot be used in an unsafe manner.
Education is necessary to know what herbs interact, what
form and amounts are effective for use, what
contraindication may exist and what combinations are known
to be effective treatment options.
Homeopathy
-
The basis of homeopathy is that like cures like. A minute
quantity of a substance that causes a symptom may
effectively relieve the problem by encouraging the body to
heal itself. By dilution and secussing the substance, a
homepathic remedy increases in strength or potentizes.
Homeopathy looks at the whole person, not just the
symptoms, and takes into consideration the physical,
emotional and environmental state of the person. Therefore,
part of a homeopathic assessment includes discovering what
conditions and activities make the situation better and
worse. Once a comprehensive picture can be drawn, a
specific homeopathic remedy may be chosen that works at the
root cause of the condition.
Acupressure
-
Acupressure uses the same meridian information to encourage
healing without the use of acupuncture needles. Pressure is
applied to the pressure point to balance and correct energy
flow.
Energy
Work -
Everything is energy. Our bodies use energy to function.
When energy is blocked, doesn't flow well, or flows in an
uncoordinated fashion, the body does not function at
optimal levels. Energy work seeks to assist the body's
energy levels to flow in a manner that is healthy and
productive.
Crystals
-
Crystals vibrate at frequencies that can be used assist the
body, mind and spirit to heal or to maintain healthy
conditions. Crystal elixirs, crystal waters, therapeutic
crystal jewelry, and employing crystals in direct body
contact are just a few ways that crystals can be
incorporated to assist an individual to address health
concerns.
Massage -
A variety of massage techniques and forms may be used to
effect stress relief and support good health.
Detoxification
-
All of us come into contact with and accummulate a variety
of toxic substances in the normal course of life. These may
enter through the air we breath, food and water we consume,
environmental challenges we are exposed to, chemicals and
toxins we absorb through the skin, and toxins we produce in
our bodies. Detoxification helps remove these toxic wastes
from the body so that we feel and function better.
Environmental
Cleansing -
Where and how we live affects how we sleep, eat and process
food and liquids, the quality of the air we breathe, what
energy sources may interfere with our bodies, and how we
respond to assaults on our health. Cleansing our
environment of negative factors can help us function more
efficiently and with greater energy.
Aromatherapy
(Essential Oils) -
Essential oils have documented health benefits.
Aromatherapy is
particularly effective for stress and anxiety relief,
insomnia, depression, muscular and rheumatic pains,
digestive disorders and women's problems ( PMS, pregnancy
and birth, menopausal complaints and postnatal depression),
and male impotence.
Relaxation
and Meditation - Stress is a
major health concern, causing immune suppression,
depression, and a host of physical ailments. Learning to
relax and meditate can enable you to lower stress levels
and heal, help you find the wisdom you seek to move forward
in other areas of life, and find peace.
Women's
Health - From puberty
to beyond menopause, women's hormones influence how women
think, function and see themselves. Menstrual issues,
overall breast health, contraception and fertility,
pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, postpartum, menopause, and
life after menopause can all benefit from knowledge and a
variety of techniques to improve function and health.
Men's Health - Male health
concerns include impotence, prostate health, stress and
heart issues, and hair and skin condition. All of these
areas can benefit from a variety of natural health
techniques and options.
Vitamins
and Supplements - Good nutrition
should be enough, but in a world of depleted soil
conditions, pesticides and herbicides, bio-engineered seeds
and plants, and processed foods, we just don't get
everything we need in the food we eat. Vitamin and mineral
deficiencies can lead to a variety of health challenges
that can be overcome with the right balance of vitamins and
minerals.
Applied
Kinesiology - Your body
knows what it needs to improve health and it knows that
things can damage your health. Applied Kinesiology allows
your body to "speak" and share it's knowledge with you so
that you know what will help and what will not.
Therapeutic Touch - As human
beings, we require touch. In fact, we can literally die
from lack of touch. Research proves that women need from 7
- 10 significant touches per day to maintain physical,
mental and emotional health; men slightly fewer.
Therapeutic touch uses the power of touch to enhance the
life on the physical, mental and emotional levels.
Mind/Body
Work - Your heart and
mind affect every aspect of your life. What you believe,
how you see life and how you respond to life challenges
affect your health in so many ways. Change your mind;
change your life.
Exercise
-
From simple stretches to more challenging workouts, our
bodies require movement that strenthens mucle and bone
health. As we age, and as our lives become more sedentary,
health can decline simply because we don't move enough and
don't move in the right ways. Just a few simple exercises
can make the difference in how we feel, how we move, and in
how our body supports us.
Individualized
Programs - You aren't
like any one else! You have likes, dislikes, challenges,
life circumstances and needs that are unique to you. You
deserve a program that focuses on the health goals that are
important to you and that include options that you will
realistically incorportate into your lifestyle.
